The Forbidden Corner is a folly garden set within the four-acre walled gardens of Tupgill Park Estate, in Coverdale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
For Waxman Architectural, this was a creative departure from the more conventional hospitality and leisure projects in our portfolio: a bespoke cracked mosaic design created for Frog Mountain, one of the garden’s whimsical features. Rather than a standard tiling application, the brief called for a decorative, artistic finish – using broken and fragmented tile pieces arranged into a mosaic surface that suits the eccentric, storybook character of the attraction.
The result reflects the spirit of The Forbidden Corner itself: unexpected, tactile and full of character, showing how Waxman’s tile ranges can be adapted beyond pools, spas and interiors into genuinely playful, sculptural applications within a landscape setting.
